We had the pleasure of teaching grade K-5 yesterday in Daly City, which was a fun departure from the high schools and universities we’ve been focusing on. The magic that growing things can have on a person was apparent in the faces of these children as Justin Cutter and volunteer, Conor Powell, taught them all about how to grow food sustainably, pollination, the dangers of conventional farming, and the many varieties of alternative energy.
It was a full day, with presentations, and non-stop greenhouse tours, and we ended up teaching 384 students (whew!) but it was absolutely worthwhile, and we loved the unique excitement that the very young shared with us. We hope to see their garden program really thrive!
